Skills Goes Rural NPC & PBO

Why We Exist
Passion

Local Community Empowerment
Key Challenges
-
A key challenge is creating a safe and creative environment where all children and the youth can actively participate and learn on an equal level, in an environment conducive to learning, while acquiring fundamental social, life, physical and mental skills.
-
Another challenge is investing time, skills and proper training by professionals to the South African youth and communities.

Our Aim

-
The aim of Skills Goes Rural is to take comprehensive skill development to our rural communities to reach a larger audience.
-
We aim to provide comprehensive skill development to facilitators, children and the youth.

Outcomes
-
By achieving this, we will provide the children and the youth with a feeling of purpose, belonging to a group where they feel safe.
-
This could be the opportunity a child has been longing for, taking them “off the streets” and offering them a different opportunity for their future.
What We Offer
Comprehensive Skill Development

SGR seeks to provide a tailor-made programme to the youth in rural areas which address physical education and development, school readiness preparation, life skills and employment.

The SGR school readiness preparation, physical and skill development program includes developing a healthy and active lifestyle for children, contributing to their emotional, social and psychological wellbeing. Well-equipped kids, become adults that can successfully and purposefully contribute to society.

Bully Awareness

Bullying affects both boys and girls and is a widespread problem in South Africa, having a severe impact on every aspect of a child's life. Suicide attempts have increased under the youth of South Africa and SGR is therefore committed to serve alongside established partners, chosen for their expertise in the area of mental health, to promote bully awareness and mental health.

Our Bully Awareness goals include ensuring children and youth affected by bullying are guided, through essential access to mental health support, facilitated by institutions and health care providers.
